10 easy ways to get more exercise in your day

We all know we need to exercise, but sometimes the idea of dedicating precious hours to moving our bodies feels too overwhelming. Many of us are running in a state of constant busy-ness or stress. We soon forget to listen to our body and what it needs, putting everything and everyone else first. We listen to the voice in our head that tells us that instead of doing something today, we’ll wait until tomorrow, when we have more time, when we’re not so tired, when we’re in a better mood or it’s not so cold or hot or rainy. We can’t find the motivation to exercise so we give up before we’ve even started.

It's time to bust those excuses Two Minute Mover!

 
 

1. START WITH A STRETCH

The difference it makes when you take two minutes in your morning to stretch out a tired, sleepy body. You feel more alive, less prone to injuries, less stiff and it feels so good to do something for YOU in the morning before the craziness begins.

2. MULTITASK AT YOUR KITCHEN BENCH

So many little moments at your kitchen bench to move. When blending a smoothie, waiting for your kettle to boil or toast to pop, do these two moves that will work your legs, glutes and core.

3. practise PILATES WHEN STUCK IN TRAFFIC

One of my most requested workouts - one to do in the car! Super simple, but a great habit to get in to for your arm muscles when you're in your car stopped at a red light or in traffic.

4. GET UP OFF YOUR CHAIR

Heard the saying, 'Sitting is the new smoking'? Time to get up, strengthen your core and glutes, loosen tight joints and get your heart and muscles working. It's a better energy boost than that second cup of coffee or a block of chocolate. You also get an increase of oxygen to your brain helping you work more productively and with more focus.

5. BICEP CURLS WITH YOUR SHOPPING BAGS

Taking a moment to give your arms and core some love before you put those shopping bags down is so worthwhile. You don't need long until you feel your muscles coming alive and get that little rise in your self worth for taking a moment to give back to yourself.

6. TURN HOUSEWORK IN TO A WORKOUT

A cardio and strengthening workout for your whole body as you're sweeping and scrubbing your floor. These moves are a sure-fire way to take the boredom and resentment out of household chores and turn them in to an endorphin boosting, body strengthening, fun part of your day. 

7. BEAT THE 3PM SLUMP WITH A QUICK HIGH INTENSITY BURST

Need a boost of energy and endorphins. All you need is something to hold on to. Get ready to jump!

8. PUT YOUR WINE BOTTLES TO GOOD USE

3 killer moves for your triceps. No dumbbells needed. Get ready to feel the burn. Who's not going to love working out with wine bottles!

9. DANCE!

A dance off in your kitchen or living room is not only a whole lot of fun but it also delivers an amazing cardio workout. You sweat but it doesn't even feel like exercise. Anything that puts a smile on your face is something we want to be doing more of. 

10. WORK YOUR CORE WHEN YOU'RE CRASHED ON THE COUCH

Here are three moves to work your core without even having to get up off the couch. Perfect for a Netflix binge-watch.

11. BRUSH YOUR TEETH AND WORK YOUR THIGHS

Your inner thighs will love you for these moves. You brush your teeth every day right? Do these every night and notice the difference. 

YEP, THAT'S 11 BUT I COULD KEEP GOING AND GOING WITH MOMENTS TO GET YOUR PRECIOUS BODY MOVING MORE.
